Create habitat for insects!
Habitat for beneficial insects, on which a variety of other animals depend, has become scarce in our cultivated landscape. The decline of bees is on everyone's lips, but the honeybee is only a small part of the ecosystem and is nurtured and cared for by beekeepers. On the other hand, the 560 species of wild bees that exist here, and thousands of other insects, have no lobby.
Meadows in bloom instead of farmland
We at GARDIGO are now helping you to do something for biodiversity. With an experienced farmer from our neighborhood, we are converting arable land into flower meadows. For this, we need to lease the area and have it managed as a flowering area. And that in a way that the ecological benefit is as great as possible.
This includes the following: .
- Asowing a seed mixture that is close to nature and adapted to the local flora.
- Mow twice a year, as this is the only way to preserve biodiversity. However, not the entire area is mowed so that insects can always find food.
- Clearing away the mowed grass, as flower meadows require nutrient-poor conditions.
You can help!
This work and the loss of income for the farmer must of course be financed. And that's where YOU come in: ...
When you purchase selected products, you now take on the sponsorship for 1 m² of wildflower meadow for 1 year, helping to finance this important project.
Our wildflower meadow
- counteracts insect decline.
- creates a diverse habitat provides food and habitat for a variety of animals that feed on insects (e.g. bats and birds).
- is located directly in front of the gates of the city of Braunschweig.
The farmer we trust.
The Wiedemann family has been operating agriculture for three generations. Sustainability is a given. In the berry fruit production, "pests" such as aphids or spider mites are kept in check by their natural enemies. This creates a natural balance and eliminates the need for pesticides. Here, it is still understood that agriculture must not be directed against nature, but must be in harmony with it.
